This esteemed award is given to individuals who have made a significant global impact in the field of education. Elder Tagwirei’s recognition comes as a result of the transformative work his foundation has carried out, bridging educational gaps and uplifting communities. Through his efforts, 63 schools across Zimbabwe have benefited from much-needed support, including tractors, farming equipment, and infrastructure development.

At Solusi University alone, projects worth an estimated US$7 million have been undertaken, with many already completed and others still in progress. These include the installation of a state-of-the-art irrigation system at Mananda Farm, which features electrical and pump plants, conveyance systems, infield setups, fencing, and telemetry control systems. Over nine kilometers of pipeline have been laid for five of the six center pivots, covering 127 hectares, along with the construction of 5,850 meters of perimeter fencing.

Water access has also been improved with the drilling of six boreholes, three of which are operational, and the fabrication of a pontoon at Mananda Dam. In addition, Solusi University has received a fleet of vehicles to support its transportation needs, including nine SUVs, two double-cab vehicles for senior personnel, a single-cab truck, two UDI lorries, and two 65-seater buses. The university has also received five tractors to support its agricultural projects. Significant investments have been made in the rehabilitation of the campus water supply and sewer systems to ensure long-term sustainability.

Dr. Lisa Hardy, the General Conference Director for Education in the Seventh-day Adventist Church, highlighted that Elder Tagwirei’s contributions extend far beyond Zimbabwe. His Bridging Gap Foundation has made a meaningful impact on education across Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Europe, benefiting numerous institutions, including Bindura University and others under the Centers of Influence Department.

“Through his foundation, Elder Tagwirei is not just supporting higher education but also strengthening primary and secondary schools across the region,” she said. “His commitment to capacity-building and community development is uplifting educational standards and fostering long-term growth.”

In his acceptance speech, Elder Tagwirei emphasized the power of education in transforming societies.

“When we dedicate ourselves to the Lord’s work, it’s not for accolades or recognition. We do it out of obedience, love, and a deep sense of mission. Standing here today, I am truly humbled that our work has been acknowledged at such a high level,” he said. “Solusi University is more than just an institution; it is a pillar of Adventist education, a beacon of excellence, and a center of influence. That is why we have invested over US$7 million—not just as a financial contribution, but as a deliberate and strategic effort to ensure long-term sustainability, self-sufficiency, and continued excellence. Our institutions must not merely survive; they must thrive. And for that, we need leadership, vision, and commitment.”

Elder Tagwirei’s historic recognition stands as a testament to his dedication to education and community development, reinforcing the importance of service and long-term investment in future generations.
