In a significant effort to combat food insecurity and contribute to Sustainable Development Goal number 2 on Zero Hunger, Bridging Gaps Foundation launched the Affordable Tillage Programme under its Centres of Influence initiative. This programme aims to transform 63 Seventh-day Adventist schools into agricultural hubs, equipping them with tractors, boom sprayers, planters, and other essential farming implements to promote sustainable food production.

The initiative provides schools with both equipment and agronomy support, ensuring that they can effectively cultivate crops for their dining hall needs, particularly in boarding schools. Any surplus produce is sold, with the proceeds reinvested into the schools for development and infrastructure improvements.
Beyond enhancing food security within schools, the programme extended its impact to local farming communities. Schools were tasked with offering affordable tillage services to nearby farmers, allowing them to access agricultural support at lower costs. This approach created a mutually beneficial system, where both schools and surrounding farmers thrive through increased productivity and economic empowerment.
Regional managers oversee the implementation of the programme, ensuring that schools utilize the farming equipment efficiently. Several institutions, including Anderson, Karirwi, and Hanke, were among the beneficiaries of this initiative. Additionally, Solusi University received irrigation equipment, tractors, and other agricultural machinery, further enhancing its capacity for sustainable farming.

The Affordable Tillage Programme underscores Bridging Gaps Foundation’s commitment to fostering long-term, sustainable solutions for hunger eradication. By integrating agriculture into school operations and extending services to the community, the initiative strengthens local food systems while equipping schools with revenue-generating opportunities.
Through this initiative, Bridging Gaps Foundation took a decisive step toward creating resilient, self-sufficient communities, reinforcing the belief that food security and education must go hand in hand to build a future where everyone acceses adequate nutrition
