Have you ever come across the proverb:
“Some people are so heavenly-minded that they are of no earthly good”?
To be truly heavenly-minded and earthly relevant, we must align our businesses and daily lives with God’s will, serving others in practical and meaningful ways. This involves applying spiritual principles in our everyday lives—connecting the dots between our faith, experiences, relationships, and responsibilities here on earth.
God, our Creator, calls us to embrace innovation, imagination, and resourcefulness. He inspires us to develop new ways of doing business and create new products from existing ones. For example, E.A. Sutherland and his team famously derived 30 different products from soy.

So, let me ask you: Which products are you creating from existing ones? Are you adding value to any products? Is your business making a positive impact on people’s lives?
As entrepreneurs seeking human flourishing, we should contribute to a more fulfilling and meaningful life for individuals. This requires seeking God’s guidance through prayer and cultivating a workplace culture that honours Him. A business should be like a well-oiled machine that continues to operate effectively even in the absence of its owner.
By applying God’s principles, we cultivate a deeper sense of earthly relevance, creating businesses that address social and environmental challenges.
Take inspiration from individuals like:
* Rudo Mazhandu, founder of Divine Hand, supports vulnerable children.
* Farai Munjoma, founder of Shasha Network, connects farmers with buyers.
* Gladys Chibanda, a Zimbabwean entrepreneur focused on sustainability, converts waste into useful products through her company, Krafted Ink.
These examples remind us of what it means to live and work with purpose.
Be Heavenly-Minded and Earthly Relevant.
